Holy Blood, Holy Grail
by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, Henry Lincoln

• Is it possible Christ did not die on the cross?
• Is it possible Jesus was married, a father, and that his bloodline still exists?
• Is it possible that parchments found in the South of France a century ago reveal one of the best-kept secrets of Christendom?
• Is it possible that these parchments contain the very heart of the mystery of the Holy Grail?

in 1891 a poor French priest in the little village of Rennes-le-Château discovered certain parchments, By his death in 1917 he had spent the equivalent of five million dollars. It was believed he had discovered a treasure of some kind. In fact, what he had discovered was an explosive secret.
We began by researching what seemed to be a story of lost treasure. We were led into a historical detective story that extended back through twenty centuries. We were also led to a secret society that exists today, and we found that names as resonant as André Malraux and Charles de Gaulle seemed to have been involved in an apparently absurd enterprise to restore a thirteen-hundred-year old royal bloodline to power.
What could have been so special about this bloodline? And what secret could hav commanded both the allegiance and the silence of some of the most illustriousnames in Western history? Our attempt to answer these questions led us to the secret that has been a cover-up, Watergate style, that has lasted two thousand years: There was a bloodline descenced directly from Jesus. By virtue of dynastic intermarriage, this bloodline ruled France during the so-called Dark Ages. Although subsequently deposed, the bloodline continued and still exists today, guarded by an international secret society.

According to the authors of this extraordinarily provocative, meticulously researched book, not only are these things possible — they are probably true! so revolutionary, so original, so convincing, that the most faithful Christians will be moved; here is the book that has sparked worldwide controversey.
